Synrad’s 48-5, utilizing Duo-Lase® technology, optically combines two 25 watt sealed CO2 laser tubes, thereby providing a single, diffraction-limited beam at 50 watts.  The Duo-Lase® technique capitalizes on the long production history of Synrad’s 48-series and assures the user of a mature product with proven reliability. 

Like the 48-1 and 48-2, the CE certified 48-5 is equipped with a DB9 connector mounted to the sidewall of the chassis to provide a convenient method for monitoring fault conditions, adding remote interlock capability, and configuring the system for shutdown in case of control or RF circuitry failure. 

Because the laser is self-contained (one unit) requiring only the application of 30 VDC, cooling water and a control signal, and RF cables have been eliminated, the 48-5 is ideally suited for overhead installation as a cutting tool in sail lofts or on cutting tables where the laser is gantry-mounted. 

Applications for the 48-5 are limited to thermal applications (cutting, drilling, engraving, etc.).  These lasers cannot be used for applications requiring a single frequency, as two wavelengths are emitted at the same time.  Ideal applications involve industrial use in the computer–aided cutting of textiles, plastic, wood, or thin metal products.
