The photo on the upper left shows the typical 2-splice cut used when splicing conveyor belting. The 0.17"-thick PVC-covered belt material, shown in cross-section in the photo on the lower left, was cut at a speed of 180 inches per minute using a 125W Evolution laser and 40psi air assist. The non-contact laser-cutting process results in a thin cut kerf and clean edges. Distortion of the material, typical when using traditional blade cutters, is eliminated with the laser.
