This piece of 0.01"-thick quartz needed to be marked with small alphanumeric characters in one corner. Because of the thin size of the test sample, problems with heat build-up and cracking could potentially affect the results of the application. By careful selection of laser parameters - not only speed and power, but resolution, font and character spacing - a highly readable mark was produced.

This piece of quartz was marked using the FH Marking head and only 5 watts of power at 15" per second. Actual character height is 0.04".
