Process Date: June 2002We created readable contrasting marks on the door latch using a Synrad Firestar T60 CO2 laser. The marks were made at a speed of 1.5 inches per second, with a cycle time of 1.9 seconds.
For mark durability testing, we submerge the door latch in a bleach solution for 24 hours. The results revealed a discoloration of the material except for the areas that were marked using the CO2 laser. The lack of oxidation in the dark mark area appears to be the result of carbon being brought to the surface during the lasing process.
