The .05 thick Kevlar reinforced urethane belt was cut at a speed of 11.3 inches per second using our 200W Synrad laser. The plastic and Kevlar composite provided clean cuts with a slight residue from the urethane using 20psi N2 assist gas.
To create a timing belt, the material is molded in a large band and then trimmed to the desired width. Laser cutting is a non-contact process so there is no tool wear usually associated with Kevlar cutting.

The Kevlar reinforced Urethane timing belt was cut at a speed of 680 inches per minute.
