It is well known that CO2 lasers can produce bold marks on anodized aluminum, however CO2 lasers are also capable of ablating
painted layers from aluminum to mark logos, part numbers, and a
variety of codes. The 0.75” x 2” logo was marked on the
painted aluminum shown in the photo using a Synrad 25W laser at
a speed of 95 inches per second giving a cycle time of 10 seconds. The
dog icon was imported as a line
drawing from an off the shelf image collection using WinMark Pro
software. Various parts of the image were filled or left
unfilled by selecting a “yes” or “no” option from the drawing
format menu. A text font was selected from the computer font folder
and the text filled option was selected “yes”, the text was then
skewed to give the desired look.
