The
speed and positional capability of a galvo-based marking head make it
a great tool for cutting thin materials!
The accuracy of Synrads new FH Series marking head ranges between 0.0004 0.0015", with similar repeatability, depending on the focal length of the lens used. No assist gas is required for this application, and a vacuum table or large bore pipe may be used for fume collection. The lack of inertia of the galvo-mirrors makes movement of up to 120" per second between the cut areas possible, which can offer a significant time saving over XY cutting beds. Users must take into account, however, that in order to cover the required area, the marking head will produce a larger spot size than an XY system.
Another advantage to using a marking head is that it offers extremely convenient integration, and can be easily mounted to gantry systems for area coverage via a step and repeat technique.
This application may also be accomplished using the Fenix Laser Marker.
